Pre War General
Pre War Buicks are those Buick manufactured as 1942 Model year cars or earlier. The Pre War BUICKS eMagazine is produced to highlight these vehicles and their stories. It is published monthly and welcomes stories from members about pre war Buicks.

About the Pre War Division
The pre war eMagazine was created following a successful pre war run here in South East Queensland way back in 2013 when five pre war Buicks attended what was to become an annual event, Covid affected years aside.
Since that time the event has continued, as has the magazine which was initially really little more than a recount of the adventures of that weekend.
From the Editor’s report of Volume 1 Edition 1 we recount:
Welcome to the first edition of a magazine for the Australian owners of Buick cars manufactured prior to World War 2. First up, for our purposes pre-war should be taken to mean Buick cars manufactured between 1903 and the start of 1942.
Yes, I know that Australians understand that pre-war should mean prior to the end of 1939 but as we drive Buicks we need to give the American’s idea of pre-war a little leeway.
Would you agree that as we all race headlong into the future we appear to be leaving behind many of our garage cars? By this I mean we see fewer and fewer of the older Buicks on our monthly runs as we all appear to have acquired and use later models that are a little more convenient in modern traffic.
I know that Laurene and I hadn’t taken our 1936 out on a decent run for quite a while until recently. She has been relegated to a garage car.
A renewed focus on pre-war Buicks is designed to shine a light on these treasures, many sitting idle in the garage, and bringing them back into fashion perhaps. Although I’m not sure they ever went out of fashion!
This e-magazine will focus on stories and technical information that span the years 1903 through 1942 covering any and all Buicks built in that period. We would also like to include reader’s stories – both highlights and lamentations. The life of an auto is not all beer and skittles!
We offer this forum as an outlet for your needs and wants and perhaps even your items for sale should you wish to pass on any treasures from the past.
I am sure that as we grow the magazine we will refine the format to suit the way in which you want us to and to cover the issues that you would want to have it cover.
With the introduction of the new website for the Buick Car Club of Australia Inc, Qld, we have the opportunity to update the original site and content.
While the attached photo shows those first five entrants you may note that they are all 1930s Buicks but since then you are likely to see anything from the teen years to the very newest of pre war Buicks, the 1942 models!
Please enjoy the magazines, all of which are listed below in chronological order from the very first edition in July 2013 right up to this month. Magazines are uploaded every month, generally on the 28th of the month, twelve months per year. Special Editions are also released from time to time and they are uploaded on the 15th of selected months. So there is always plenty of info coming online.
Many recipients are on a mailing list, and you are able and welcome to join that list simply by sending your request to join to prewarbuicks@gmail.com , it’s free so why not.
If you have a pre war Buick, why not come along to our next pre war tour here in sunny South East Queensland each winter, always the best time for travel in our climate, or in any pre war car really! We’ll include the future dates in our coming events page, so keep an eye on that.
Our only rule is that you must be in a pre war car, nothing built after February 1942 please. If you haven’t got one, then what about jumping in with friends in their pre war car. It’s always a lot of fun and the pace is both relaxed and relaxing.
